This Women Supporting Women project, would work with 35 participants over a one year period (February 2019 to January 2020). It would have five key elements: A Launch event to bring together: potential users, health professionals, staff and volunteers. The platform would enable us to give detailed information on the project aims and programme of activities as well as providing a forum for consultation and time to share time together with food. Weekly Activity Peer Support sessions would be offered for a twelve week period, with some off-site sessions to provide a change in environment. Membership to the group would come from self referrals as well as referrals from agencies. Each participant would have a one to one session to identify and capture data on their individual needs. This peer support would offer time and space for the women to bond and build trust while undertaking an activity that would also support their mental health. Core topics would include assertiveness and self care. Educational Support would follow and provide a weekly session focussing on particular issues that were relevant to the group. Where appropriate other family members would be invited to extend their knowledge and understanding of issues and enable the whole family to provide informed support to each other. Having developed confidence, trust, knowledge and understanding the group would focus on themed Peer to Peer Support. In parallel to all elements of the project, training for both service users and staff (including volunteers) would be offered
