Housing and legal advice is available and have one of the few LGBT services in the country. Funding is for a limited period of time to respond directly to the current Covid-19 crisis.

Female survivors of domestic and sexual abuse will be provided with help from short-term crisis support through to longer-term guidance. RISE has seen an increase in clients and anticipates it will increase by a further 33%. The new project will focusing on preventative work and provide women with a platform to become independent by producing their own services and support others. Brighton and Hove is a pilot site for the Change That Lasts framework developed by the national Women’s Aid federation.

64% of women who have been abused have post-traumatic stress disorder. This affects their ability to engage with support services, follow safety plans, or to cope with everyday life. This grant will enable Brighton based Rise to cascade training to all their staff about how best to respond to women suffering from trauma; it will also offer one-to-one therapy to women who display complex trauma. The grant will fund a trauma therapist and some support for a manager; it will also support evaluation of the work. The project will help women who have been abused to be able to engage with safety planning and to reduce their risk of re-victimisation.

This is a continuation and expansion of an existing project by RISE, providing outreach services across Brighton and Hove to ensure isolated and hard to reach women, children, young people and families with diverse needs affected by domestic abuse (DA) are better able to access services. RISE will expand the parent and parent-led support groups and introduce mentoring groups for women, children and young people. There will also be an expansion of DV support groups, counselling and advocacy sessions.
