Struggling parents on low incomes with young families with at least one child under five will be supported through local trained volunteers who have parenting experience. Volunteers may include parents recruited from this or the previous project. A project co-ordinator will visit every family to make an assessment of their needs. They will then match each family with a volunteer or volunteer therapist and monitor using Home-Start’s MESH reporting system.

This project supports families with at least one child under five who are experiencing isolation, post natal depression or who are struggling to raise a family. They do this through a combination of home visiting support, counselling, therapy support and social activities. Volunteers are assigned to families by a volunteer coordinator and will spend at least two hours a week with the family, offering a listening ear and practical help. They will continue with this until the family feels able to cope alone.
