The funding will be used to bring the deaf and hearing community together to work on a community allotment. The project has the potential to bring down barriers and raise awareness of the issues that the deaf community experience on a daily basis. Deaf people are routinely excluded from most forms of community life due to language barriers and the lack of information available in BSL. They are more likely to be unemployed live-in poverty and suffer poor physical ill-health than hearing people. The project has the potential to reduce this sense of isolation and will elevate the economic and health inequalities faced by deaf people.
