The As You Are centres provides free and low cost psychological support to individuals, couples and families, including low cost counselling, relationship and family therapy and therapeutic groups and survivors of domestic abuse. They also work with other organisations to provide eating disorder groups, including a female only group. Funding was provided to run a series of online and face to face therapeutic groups over 12 months to cope with increased demand.

Build skills and confidence; Mental illness can have negative impact on self esteem and confidence, groups will provide opportunities for women to challenge negative patterns of thought and self belief. Outcomes will be improved self confidence and increased self esteem. Improved communication and relationships, our skilled facilitators will work with a combination of recognised therapeutic interventions to enable the participants to increase their own self belief and confidence and develop more positive ways of relating and communication. Peer support will provide platform to challenge stigma associated with mental illness. Skills will included; mindfulness, effective use of SMART goals. Improve health and well-being; The groups aim is to improve mental health, group participants will develop tools to improve their ability to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. They will have opportunities to develop positive and healthily sleep patterns. Reduce harmful self medication, less women will be using harmful self medication including, food, alcohol, legal and illegal drugs and self harm. Build social networks; peer support provides opportunity for group members to build social and supportive networks. Positive and assertive communication provides space for women to highlight and maintain positive and supportive relationships. Women will feel less isolated.

The organisation will use funding to deliver therapy sessions for adults with a history of childhood physical abuse and neglect, and train volunteers to be able to deliver peer led sessions in the future. This will reduce isolation of beneficiaries and enable them to address issues such as shame and stigma in a supportive environment.
