Buddies will also act as a community watch, in partnership with the community warden and police, sharing information about scams and local criminal activity. A service has been set up whereby 200 people living with dementia in Selsey and rural district and their 178 Carers are receiving regular proactive phone calls. Working in strong partnerships this local group operates in partnership with Selsey Community Forum, it has 20 volunteers, one outreach worker and help from Crossroads Care. At present support is being offered by phone to all Carers on regular basis . Calls are increasingly long because of loneliness , anxiety, request for information or support in crisis episodes. Funding will support staff costs until Dec 2020.
