This 18-month project is for Carers of children with a learning disability and young disabled people over 25 living in Hounslow and Ealing, London. It aims to support the carers who experience social isolation to meet others in the same situation, share information, and receive help. It also supports young disabled people over 25 who no longer have access to formal education by exploring how to exert more choice and control over personal budgets, giving carers a genuine break from caring. It runs weekly coffee mornings, lunch club sessions, and one-to-one sessions for welfare benefits queries, breaks from caring and access to specialist support.
