ESTEEM offers young adults aged 14-26 opportunities to develop confidence, build life-skills and improve wellbeing. This grant will fund core costs to support organisational strategy development and broaden ESTEEM’s impact on social change. A dedicated fundraiser will allow the organisation to strategically integrate greater youth voice in the regional consortia (Changing Futures), build more sustainable income streams and strengthen partnership work with other youth organisations and sectors to deepen impact.

The funding will support the continuation of the group's work across Sussex with young people aged 14-26 who are vulnerable and marginalised. ESTEEM is a youth organisation who work with 14-26 year olds' to run well-being social mentoring and volunteering opportunities. They offer easy-to-access drop-in or online support on a self-referral or partner-referral basis. Their inclusive youth-led projects are continually growing and they will now use the funding to ensure the its future sustainability and to work with a strength-based approach in enabling young adults to overcome barriers and achieve life-goals.

By providing volunteering experience, 1:1 mentoring & training in a safe-space, ESTEEM helps to ease the transition into training, education and employment. Funding will support their cooking programme over the next 12 months. These sessions give young people who are in supported housing an opportunity to learn how to prepare a healthy meal and create a budget.

ESTEEM has 47 young people on their Safeguarding register who have 2 x 1 hour sessions each week, with another 20 young people already filtering through who are not meeting safeguarding threshold but are showing signs for the need for intervention. Funding will be used to enable ESTEEM staff to meet young people online for 2 hours a week of 121 well-being check ins as a preventative measure to escalating anxiety and depression.
