The project is using funding to secure a permanent centre becoming the Southwark and Lewisham Women's Hub which is designed to be a one-stop shop for women providing them with holistic trauma-informed support for women affected by the criminal justice system (CJS) and other disadvantages. Cementing a full-time women’s centre in a permanent location will enable them to offer an expanded programme of activities workshops courses and increased 1:1 advocacy.

The funding is for delivery of support packs to beneficiaries of our Women's Services (supporting women in the Criminal Justice System) and HourBank (supporting the most vulnerable members of our community). Beneficiaries normally receive in-person support up to three times a week. We will post support packs two times a month to improve mental health, reduce isolation and address food poverty. This grant award covers 3 months costs which is in line with eligibility criteria.

Pecan will lead the Move On project to benefit young women in Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Wandsworth leaving young offender institutions, supporting them through group work and one to one mentoring to prevent re-offending. Supported by six partner organisations it will help the young women develop an action plan for when they are released, that will help them with practical needs such as housing as well as raising their self-esteem and aspirations for the future.
