£112,000	21/06/2021	Using the Higher Potential Ecological Networks that have been identified as part of Dorsets Local Nature Recovery Plan, we will transform some of our areas green deserts into wildlife-rich sites and ....more Using the Higher Potential Ecological Networks that have been identified as part of Dorsets Local Nature Recovery Plan, we will transform some of our areas green deserts into wildlife-rich sites and will create habitat and species resilience by linking existing biodiverse sites to a wider network.We will work with residents to achieve this, empowering them to care for their urban parks, reconnecting them with nature, educating them about the environment and giving them the confidence and inspiration to engage with larger local nature reserves.We will address all themes, especially 1 and 3 to:Transform eight urban parks (47 hectares) within our most densely populated and deprived wards and where there is least green space.Employ Park Activators to deliver physical changes and to run a range of engagement activities to educate and inspire residents into nature.Develop and deliver an evaluation plan to record changes, primarily using citizen science monitoring and reporting.Empower communities by creating new volunteering opportunities with support for skills development and confidence building.We will create nine new jobs. We are ready to start this project immediately and have consents in place from the landowner.

£30,497	13/07/2020	This two-year project will sustain and grow a pilot ‘Parks in Mind’ ecotherapy project, giving people in Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, including those with experience of mental health ....more This two-year project will sustain and grow a pilot ‘Parks in Mind’ ecotherapy project, giving people in Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, including those with experience of mental health issues, greater opportunities to improve their health, wellbeing and the local environment. Volunteering opportunities in parks will offer the chance to meet other local people with shared interests in nature conservation and the outdoors, gain new skills and friendships and improve mental and physical health. Participants will co-design the project through in-the-moment conversations during sessions as well as formal feedback and are encouraged to take the lead in sessions. Positive improvements made by participants in the local environment will help to make Boscombe a great place to live and work for the wider community and challenge the stigma of mental health.
