CREATING ADVENTURES

Creating Adventures enriches the lives of adults aged 18 onwards with Autism and learning disabilities through a programme of activities. We aim to inspire them to try something new, ignite the interest by encouraging them to learn new skills and finally see them blossom and light up as they find their inner talent. We aim for our members to be the best that they can be and reach their potential.

These classes were online to tackle the social isolation that members were facing during this difficult time. The Zumba classes have been such a fantastic addition to their programme that they would love to continue them in person. The movement to music and enjoyment with peers supports the mental health of our members and as they are meeting friends and getting physically fitter, the benefits are endless.

£10,000	15/03/2018	Creating Adventures aims to enrich the lives of adults with autism and learning disabilities through unique activities and experiences which are both stimulating and therapeutic to help them lead a ....more Creating Adventures aims to enrich the lives of adults with autism and learning disabilities through unique activities and experiences which are both stimulating and therapeutic to help them lead a improved quality of life. 50 Art sessions will be delivered over the course of 12 months for 15 adults with autism and learning disabilities aged 50+ who enjoy using a variety of art forms; providing a source of therapy and enabling participants to express themselves, reducing anxieties whilst feeling a sense of achievement from creating something which they can take home. The grant fund will be used to pay for venue hire, a qualified and experienced Art Facilitator, materials needed for the sessions and core costs. There are limited art activities of this nature for this cohort within this geographical locality. This unique activity will focus on older adults creating pieces of art relating to different cultures from around the world and enabling them to use any experiences they may have had during their life. This will not only allow the adults to create something special but it will also take them on a sensory journey.
