EAST LIVERPOOL RIDING FOR THE DISABLED ASSOCIATION INCORPORATING CARRIAGE DRIVING

East Liverpool RDA covers Merseyside, St Helens Widnes and Warrington. We are run solely by volunteers and funded by donations and grants. We offer opportunities for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities to experience horse care and therapeutic horse riding and contact sessions. Our aim is to provide therapy through contact and horse-riding. We are run solely volunteers.

Riding for the disabled ....more The funding will be used to bring disabled and non-disabled communities together to participate in fun and therapeutic activities using the medium of working with animals. Riding for the disabled brings enormous benefits to participants developing their core muscles balance posture co-ordination confidence and general health and well-being. The project will roll out the same benefits and activities to the wider community focusing on hard-to-reach young people who are at risk of engaging in risky situations and older members of the community who are experiencing dementia. The organisation provides activities in a stable yard environment working with horses rescue ducks and chickens as a means of engagement. The stable yard provides a range of varied activities to improve physical mental and emotional health reduce isolation and help those recovering from trauma. The organisation has forged good working relationships with Merseyside Police who will be instrumental in providing a steer to young people.
