The funding will be used to deliver a range of holistic support and activities for children young people and their families living in hotels in Birmingham most of whom have fled the family home due to domestic violence seeking asylum and now losing their houses or private rental homes due to the cost-of-living crisis. This funding will be used by InUnity Ltd to deliver a responsive and youth-led programme of activities in South Birmingham for young people aged 10 to 19. Sessions will seek to improve young people’s resilience and wellbeing educational engagement and reduce risks of youth violence.

This project will provide 47 weeks of fun focused activities for up to 80 inactive women in 3 areas of Birmingham.

Through our 3-tiered project, I AMh Aware will support girls & young women, who are living right on the edge of our society, to make a change in their lives, to improve their own mental health & well-being. This will happen by: Connecting: I AMh Aware will provide 3 different opportunities for girls to get together, build connections and friendships, and provide peer support among themselves. This will help to build tolerance and empathy amongst our girls & young women and be particularly powerful for groups of young people known to be at higher risk of developing mental health problems, i.e those girls that we will be targeting. Learning: We are not talking structured educational courses here, but through the development of practical knowledge and life skills. All of these offer the opportunity for young people to build their confidence and self-esteem. Giving: I AMh Aware is not all about taking; its well-documented that giving makes people feel good. Through our social action project, developing opportunities for these vulnerable girls to make a difference to their communities will have considerable value to improving mental wellbeing and social connectedness. Take notice: Poor mental health & well-being is an issue. By encouraging these girls to take notice by looking at the world around them, will allow space for them to reflect on what they are feeling and appreciating what matters. I AMh Aware will support young women to deal with emotions like anger, worry and balancing life. Ultimately this will build their resilience & help them cope with life just that little bit better. Being Active: I AMh Aware will include some physical activity emotional and physical health go hand-in-hand. The physical activities included will support mental wellbeing by boosting mood, promoting social interaction and friendship, and not focus on sport
