The organisation is a diverse network of Muslim women who work to support Muslim women and girls to succeed across Nottinghamshire by ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met by creating a safe space for them to take part in decision making processes influence local policy and develop services using their lived experience. Over the past five years NMWN has grown organically from a signposting service to a wider advocacy and support service delivered outside of office hours which includes support for women with no recourse to public funds to access emergency accommodation and food support.

Objectives

(A) RELIEVING THE NEEDS AND SUFFERING OF MUSLIM WOMEN IN NEED OF SUCH RELIEF DUE TO CONDITIONS RELATED TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THE RESULTING DISTRESS AND HARDSHIP, IN PARTICULAR, THROUGH THE PROVISION OF COUNSELLING, PUBLIC EDUCATION, ADVICE AND ADVOCACY.(B)PROMOTING SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY WORKING WITH MUSLIM WOMEN WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED ON THE GROUNDS OF THEIR ETHNIC ORIGIN, RELIGION, BELIEF, GENDER AND CREED TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF MUSLIM WOMEN AND ASSIST THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY, IN PARTICULAR BY:• PROVIDING A LOCAL NETWORK OF SUPPORT THAT ENCOURAGES AND ENABLES MUSLIM WOMEN TO PARTICIPATE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH AND WITHIN THE WIDER COMMUNITY.• INCREASING, OR CO-ORDINATING, OPPORTUNITIES FOR MUSLIM WOMEN TO ENGAGE WITH SERVICE PROVIDERS, TO ENABLE THOSE PROVIDERS TO ADAPT SERVICES TO BETTER MEET THEIR NEEDS AND TO ENSURE COMMUNITY SAFETY.
