Grant details

JLF's trustees are developing a new grantmaking strategy for the Foundation. We will publish details of our new strategy on this page in the coming months. From April 2021 to March 2022 we concentrated our funding and resources on the two main areas shown below. Youth Disadvantage Joseph Levy passionately believed in the potential of all young people, some of whom face particular challenges due to ill-health, poverty or disability. Who we aimed to support: Children and young people aged 16 to 25 who are experiencing loss and disadvantage as a result of the pandemic and its effects (e.g. on opportunities, education, etc) in the UK and Israel. We targeted young people who are experiencing the greatest negative impact. What we funded: Services and activities of a practical kind (e.g. mentoring, sport, etc) that support young people’s mental health and wellbeing and provide opportunities for them to fulfil their potential – e.g. in relation to employment and education and during periods of transition. How we funded: We used a proactive approach to identify organisations that we would like to support. We awarded grants of £30,000 as core funding. Because of the uncertainties created by the pandemic, the grants were for one year only, although in some cases there is the possibility of the funding relationship being extended beyond the end of the first year. Recent grants: you can find details of the recent grants we have awarded by clicking here. Cystic Fibrosis The Cystic Fibrosis Trust was formed in 1964 with Joseph Levy’s help and support. He served as Chairman for 20 years and the charity’s success was ensured by his dedication. We continue to support two CF charities – specifically: Cystic Fibrosis Trust Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund Until March 2022 we also administered the Joseph Levy Education Fund on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. From April 2022 the administration of the Education Fund transferred to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and JLF awarded the Trust an additional grant to cover its costs to administer the Fund for 3 years. For the three-year period April 2018 to March 2021 JLF’s main focus was on supporting projects working with children and young people on the autism spectrum and their families in the UK and Israel. Details of those grants can be found here.
