THE JOFFE TRUST

Who they support

Work to fight corruption and promote tax justice. - Work to build stronger not-for-profit organisations. This includes funding new start ups where they can add real value and support to non-profits (with annual income of less than £1.5m) to move to the next level of organisational development. They do not fund work that only benefits communities in the UK.

Grant criteria

The Joffe Trust funds small UK-based charities that have the potential to make a disproportionate impact. Most grants are made to organisations they identify through research and networks. Their objective is to support new and existing civil society leaders to build effective and sustainable non-profit organisations that strengthen partnerships between the UK and lower income countries and tackle the causes of poverty.

Grant details

The Trust normally makes grants in the range of £5,000 to £30,000 per year for up to three years (i.e. a total grant of between £5,000 and £90,000)

Application procedure

Most grants are to organisations that they have identified through their own research and networks. They make a small number of grants in response to new enquiries. They receive a large number of high quality applications and so the Trust is only able to make a very limited number of new grants each year to their focus areas. If you meet their criteria, follow their two stage process: 1. Submit a short initial enquiry. 2. If invited, submit a full application. The Trust makes grant decisions three times per year. Enquiries and applications can be submitted whenever is most appropriate for you.
