The aim of the project is to: improve integration, encourage mutual respect by bringing people from different backgrounds and diverse culture in order to reduce the risk of developing extreme views. This approach will improve understanding of different communities, faiths and cultures and building community resilience. Shantona will be the lead organisation and deliver this project with Orion Partners: Space2, Feel Good Factor, Zest and Makor. Currently Shantona is delivering the BSBT programme to Mothers and Daughter in three different areas of Leeds. This project will help Orion partners to bring additional capacity to community cohesion agenda, challenge extreme views, improve the delivery capacity and enhanced the integrated approach to all communities and widen the reach. There will be one project administrator, based at Shantona, with each partner having sessional workers responsible for outreach, recruitment of services users and supporting the delivery of the workshops. Sessional workers will be trained by skilled staff and facilitators for two days, prior to delivery of the workshops. The project will focus on each partner delivering 10 half day workshops within different areas and community round tablet discussions targeting diverse communities within their catchment area. All workshops will focus on common topic areas but each group will decide how they want to present and describe their findings at the follow up area community event. The workshops will use a range of engaging means to keep participants involved, this could include community film, photography, poetry, and storytelling. The community events will be facilitated for participants to share their findings from the themed workshops to a wider audience and to further widen discussions and debates amongst event audience.
