Outcome 1: Young women aged 10 14 will be more aware of their feelings and how to manage them. There will be a focus on emotional literacy to enable young women to identify, talk about and manage their feelings, particularly those feelings where there are unwritten rules for women and girls e.g. Expressing anger. Outcome 2: Young women will be able to recognise their rights and individual strengths. The programme will provide opportunities for girls and young women to identify their own personal strengths and goals and work towards them. We will also look at Girls and Womens rights and how to handle situations where these are not respected. Outcome 3: Girls and Young women will understand the role of social media in stereotyping girls and young women and the impact on their well-being. We will explore the impact of social media girls and young women perception of themselves (e.g. body image, life goals and gender stereotyping) the risks of social media to young women (e.g. cyber bullying, sexting, personal data) and its impact on their mental health and well-being. Outcome 4: Girls and Young Women will have improved strategies for managing stressful situations and self-calming. The group work will include a range of tools to help girls and young women identify situations that cause them feelings of anxiety and practice methods of self-soothing and self-calming as well as knowing where and who they can go to for help. Outcome 4: Girls and Young Women involved in Girls Talk are involved in developing peer training and resources to support mental health and well-being. Girls and young women participants will become peer volunteers and be supported to produce resources and training for their peers and adults to have a better understanding of mental health issues for girls and young women.
