....more
BA Flying Start for Grenfell - Rugby Portobello Trust (People Potential Possibilities) were one of the first groups to open their doors to survivors. They have been a crisis centre offering direct support and facilitating statutory support being delivered to the community. They have received a small amount of funding to date to cover their retrospective costs and losses and to fund some of the immediate needs on the ground. Their normal role in the community is as a youth service providing sporting, cultural and educational activities. Many of their beneficiaries come from Lancaster West estate. The crisis and support centre has now been moved and Rugby Portobello would like to provide a range of activities specifically ring fenced and focused on children and young people from the estate and those who have lost friends or family. This will be on top of their normal activities which are now resuming, recognising that total separation is not the right approach, but that additional counselling, therapeutic activities and support will be needed for certain young people. This funding will help support that over the next two months whilst the organisation applies for longer term funding.
