Who they support

Those who suffer from poverty and financial crisis, poor physical or mental health, minority ethnic groups, refugees, disadvantaged women, families, children and young people aged 5 to 25, those suffering discrimination, homeless people, carers and adults with few or no educational qualifications.

Grant criteria

The types of organisations and projects they typically support are based in Merseyside (including Skelmersdale, Halton, and Ellesmere Port) and Northern Ireland. They try to build and strengthen communities, work in partnership with others, carry out trust building initiatives, address previously unmet needs, provide advice and support, and try to change attitudes and broaden horizons.

The size of grant awarded is usually up to £5000

Application procedure

Application forms are only available from their offices. To confirm eligibility and to obtain an application pack you must first contact them by phone, e-mail or letter. Applications should be made by letter of no more than four A4 sides accompanied by a completed 'Organisational Details' form. Applications may be hand written and be in black ink as they are photocopied. If trustees shortlist an application, they will ask you to provide additional documentation. Many groups who apply for funding are visited but they may simply phone for more information. Decisions about which projects to fund are made by the Trustees who meet 5-6 times a year. As a general rule, you should allow 3 to 5 months for a decision to be made.
